Credit Alert: Mercator Transport Group — Member Exclusion

OceanX Network hereby formally notifies its members and the broader seafreight community that the following entities have been excluded from OceanX Network membership with immediate effect:

• Mercator Transport Argentina S.A. — excluded following entry into concurso preventivo (formal insolvency proceedings) in February 2026 and sustained failure to meet obligations to OceanX member companies
• Mercator Transport Uruguay S.A. — excluded following sustained payment defaults to multiple OceanX member companies, despite repeated payment commitments over a period exceeding six months
• Mercator Transport Europa S.L. (Spain) — excluded as a precautionary measure given common group branding and ownership, and absence of formal documentation confirming legal independence from the Argentine and Uruguayan entities

OceanX Network operated a formal mediation process over a period of more than six months in an attempt to resolve outstanding obligations between the Mercator Transport group and affected member companies. During this period, OceanX deliberately refrained from public communication in order to give the group every opportunity to resolve matters privately and preserve its commercial relationships. Those efforts did not yield the required results.

What this means for the industry:

Mercator Transport entities — across all jurisdictions — are no longer covered by the OceanX FailSAFE payment protection plan. OceanX does not recommend extending credit to any entity operating under the Mercator Transport brand until further notice.

Companies that have outstanding receivables against any Mercator Transport entity are encouraged to take appropriate legal advice without delay. Companies with outstanding receivables against Mercator Transport Argentina S.A.should be aware that the company is currently in concurso preventivo before the Juzgado Nacional en lo Comercial N° 17, Buenos Aires (Expte. N° 236/2026).
